A Balanced Life of Comfort and Adventure at Playa Azalea

March 23, 2017

Landco’s beachfront community Playa Azalea offers an exciting leisurely lifestyle for residents who want to live along the powder white beaches of Samal Island

Back in the day, when beachgoers get the itch to travel somewhere warm and sunny, Boracay and Palawan are the usual top choices, and deservedly so. Boracay was chosen as the best island of 2012 by international travel magazine Travel + Leisure, and is basically a 24/7 party hotspot. Palawan, meanwhile, is known as the country’s “last frontier” for its lush landscape, rich marine and wildlife, and pristine lagoons and beaches.

But slowly gaining popularity among local and foreign travelers is a paradise-like destination way down south: Samal Island, which reportedly drew 758,000 visitors and drew in Php1 billion in tourism receipts last year. Boasting powdery white-sand beaches and a significant collection of natural tourist attractions, it is no surprise that this island in Davao Del Norte is becoming part of many travelers’ bucket lists.

Life on the Island
Officially named the Island Garden City of Samal, Samal Island is a fourth income class city and is part of the Metro Davao area. Tourism is a growing sector in Samal as it has grown in popularity over the years. Samal is replete with natural attractions due to its rich ecosystem, as well as constant efforts by the local government to preserve these ecological resources. Some of its more popular natural attractions are its numerous white-sand beaches; the Monfort Bat Sanctuary, a 245-foot cave and Guinness World Record holder for housing the largest single colony of Rousette fruit bats (2.3 million); and the Sanipaan Shoal or Vanishing Island, an 80-hectare sand bar that disappears during high tide.

The 301.3-square-kilometer island is also considered the largest resort city in the country, housing 34 registered resorts with a combined capacity of 1,000 rooms. However, one development is going the extra mile by creating a community that is not just for transient travelers, but relocators who wish to live among the beauty of Samal Island: Landco Pacific Corporation’s Playa Azalea.

Playa Azalea: Staycation at Its Finest
Named after the flower that grows abundantly throughout the development’s landscaped gardens, Landco Pacific’s Playa Azalea is a master-planned seaside community found in Samal’s Barangay Limao. With a design that incorporates Samal’s ecology and cultural heritage, the 44-hectare project is truly a gem of a community in the Davao Region.

As a development that prides itself in providing a tropical staycation lifestyle, Playa Azalea’s main attractions include its 400-meter stretch of white sand as well as a river pool, the first of its kind in Samal. Adding to its appeal as a home that makes residents feel like they are constantly on a holiday are panoramic views of the Davao Gulf and Davao City, as well as that of Mount Apo.

Perhaps the most famous component of this beachfront community is the Aqua Park, an amenity exclusively for residents and their guests. The park, which houses the river pool with infinity edge, is also built with a kiddie pool, cabanas, and snack bar. Beach and water activities are also available for a more enjoyable experience.

Two features were incorporated to the community’s overall layout to ensure that residents and guests are able to make the most of the picturesque views. The View Deck overlooks the Davao Gulf and Davao City. The Hilltop Clubhouse, which contains an infinity pool and a multipurpose pavilion, is the perfect spot for casing the sea and the Davao skyline.

Aiming to be the center of Samal Island’s leisure, tourism, and social activity, Playa Azalea will also feature a commercial/hotel complex. The complex will mirror the development’s Asian tropical theme and host various restaurants, convenience stores, a coffee shop and a souvenir shop.

Playa Azalea also offers other elements to create a well-rounded development, such as Greenbelt Park, which is ideal for biking, jogging, and picnics; and the jetty, which allows the residents to travel between the development and Davao City.

Playa Azalea is a major project of Landco Pacific Corp., a real estate developer specializing in leisure communities, resort-inspired condominiums, and luxury home communities. For over 25 years, the company has consistently pioneered innovative and outstanding lifestyle products that revolutionize the way people live.
